THE DRESS

Inspiration and the Dress…

A few years ago a friend of mine shared with me that she would be getting married… She was elated! Her thoughts were that I would do her hair, makeup and of course help her choose the dress… I thought “WOW” this is so exciting…

The inspiration was a Country Wedding… Colors: soft pink, sand and of course white… This I thought would be the easiest approach instead of the HUGE Gala’s that I normally do…

We started our search at Bergdorf Goodman…

MAKE UP FOR EVER

MAKE UP FOR EVER was founded by Dany SANZ in 1984. Her goal was to respond to the needs of professional makeup artists…

I first heard of this product at the beginning stages of my career… I found it like nothing else with it’s heavy pigmented eye-shadows, lip colors, shimmers and glitters… Something that was almost unheard of at that time. I felt a bit intimidated but found when walking up to a MAKE UP FOR EVER counter, a menagerie of possibility. It was 1985 when I became curious about what one could do with so much color on a face….

PHOTOGRAPHY / Stephen Elledge

BIO

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Stephen moved to New York in 1991 to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. His attention turned to photography when a friend hired him to make prints by hand in the darkroom. His own early photographic works were of artist friends and vacation pictures of Capri. Being a self taught photographer, his talent for creating nostalgic moods and natural skin tones, soon caught the attention of the fashion and advertising world.

After moving to Paris in 2002, he worked extensively, shooting editorials for fashion magazines all over Europe via his reps Par31 in Holland and Sarah Daw in London. His personal work has been exhibited in galleries such as Tactile Bosche in the UK and the Mendo in Amsterdam. Stephen currently spends his time between New York and Austin.

Some time ago I met Stephen Elledge through a mutual friend here in New York who also happens to be a photographer…

HAIR COLOR

I am a huge fan of hair color … I love taking mousey colored hair and making it a beautiful shade of red, a rich brown or even blonde … The key to achieving any hair color is to end up with a shade that compliments the skin tone and that has a multidimensional quality… Unless you are going for a “Fashion” color like the gray violet color of Kelly Osbourne …

Dull color usually is the sign of over-processed hair or the lack of enough color molecules or pigment to give depth to the hair… Finding a great colorist is the key to consistant beautiful color…

For men there are products that are over the counter that slightly shade the hair so that it remains very natural… JUST FOR MEN is a fantastic over the counter product… There are also in salon color products designed exclusively for men as well.. These products are usually on the cooler side and fade without turning red or leaving a line of demarcation…

To achieve  this color I took three shades and layered them…

GROOMING AIDE and the MODERN MALE

A quick splash in the face and finger-combing your hair is no longer the ideal for men keeping up with todays rules and how they apply to lifestyle…

Men spend more time now with products that help with a perfect shave, a cool haircut and a great outfit.

Grooming habits and what is considered “good grooming” have varied greatly over time. Scented oils were a popular method of cleaning and softening skin and masking body odor. In the grooming arsenal of most men today you’ll find eye creams, skin softeners and age defying potions and the one or few of the various alluring fragrances on the market today…The over abundance of grooming products available today can lead to confusion over what works best…

I am a believer that if you’re going to spend money on clothing that have a high quality, then you most certainly should take yourself into consideration…

Let’s start from head to toe…
