BEAUTY IS ALL AROUND US…

2015 is the year of change and renewal.

Already February and with Fashion Week behind us and the winter that keeps on giving, I find inspiration with every step I take from Madison to 5th Ave.

Many are taking chances with trading in their long locks for shorter bobs and punching up their color. Adorned on those new styles are faux to fur hats, reminding me that chic always reins supreme.

There is no other city that does winter like New York.  From thigh high boots to opaque hosiery with thigh high cashmere stockings and mini skirts and dresses designed by Chanel and Lanvin.

BOW TIE

To tie or not to tie? That is the question…

When I think of the first time I wore a clip-on bow tie I was around three years old; only through photographs am I reminded. Even then, it seemed as if I was pleased with the idea of looking like a complete package. I decided in my teens that I wanted to tie my own bow tie and began the search to find a perfect ray of patterns and colors.

The choice to tie my own came from the feeling that I got with the accomplishment of getting it just right… The “tie-by-hand” or “self-tie” has since become a staple in my wardrobe, from traditional patterns mostly made of silk, to black, purple and burgundy velvet for tuxedo’s. The possibilities are endless in terms of choosing to wear one for almost any occasion as I have with one of my favorites made of wool plaid and dressed with a denim shirt during the Fall/Winter, to lavender and white polka dot made of cotton worn with a crisp white shirt for Spring/Summer.

THE DRESS

Inspiration and the Dress…

The inspiration was a Country Wedding… Colors: soft pink, sand and of course white… This I thought would be the easiest approach instead of the HUGE Gala’s that I normally do…

We started our search at Bergdorf Goodman…

PHOTOGRAPHY / Stephen Elledge

BIO

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Stephen moved to New York in 1991 to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. His attention turned to photography when a friend hired him to make prints by hand in the darkroom. His own early photographic works were of artist friends and vacation pictures of Capri. Being a self taught photographer, his talent for creating nostalgic moods and natural skin tones, soon caught the attention of the fashion and advertising world.

After moving to Paris in 2002, he worked extensively, shooting editorials for fashion magazines all over Europe via his reps Par31 in Holland and Sarah Daw in London. His personal work has been exhibited in galleries such as Tactile Bosche in the UK and the Mendo in Amsterdam. Stephen currently spends his time between New York and Austin.

Some time ago I met Stephen Elledge through a mutual friend here in New York who also happens to be a photographer…
