MY WALL

HAIR COLOR

I am a huge fan of hair color … I love taking mousey colored hair and making it a beautiful shade of red, a rich brown or even blonde … The key to achieving any hair color is to end up with a shade that compliments the skin tone and that has a multidimensional quality… Unless you are going for a “Fashion” color like the gray violet color of Kelly Osbourne …

Dull color usually is the sign of over-processed hair or the lack of enough color molecules or pigment to give depth to the hair… Finding a great colorist is the key to consistant beautiful color…

For men there are products that are over the counter that slightly shade the hair so that it remains very natural… JUST FOR MEN is a fantastic over the counter product… There are also in salon color products designed exclusively for men as well.. These products are usually on the cooler side and fade without turning red or leaving a line of demarcation…

To achieve  this color I took three shades and layered them… Taking Melanie’s natural color a shade lighter and then foiling in some highlights and a beautiful shade of a reddish brown… After the hair has processed I take a medium golden blonde gloss and cover the hair for 10 minutes…  This seals, tones and gives tons of shine to the hair…

Of course with beautiful color a GREAT cut too…

One of the problems that I’ve encountered is the lack of care when it comes to color-treated hair… I suggest that you find products that maintain the color and that create less fading… Over washing is not recommended unless you have over active sebaceous glands.

Kérastase has everything from shampoo, conditioner, leave in products and elixir a versatile oil for color-treated hair. It provides color protection and radiance.

For those of you struggling with over processed and damaged  hair I recommend hair treatments… Whether over the counter or going into a salon and having one that specifically works for you…

Remember, follow your colorist to the moon… Do not make a habit of reading articles and switching colorists every 6 weeks… Consistency is the key… Booking your color appointments ahead of time saves you from having to run in for a quick fix…

See you soon…
